Rich Jones
got involved with Greta Cottage Workshop because we ran into each other on Soundcloud talking about a certain Mr Collins, and realising we shared a love of the Fried Pie (hopefully a future project will involve a Pie Frying element) He is also a South Coast Boy, so it was rude not to really, and he also shares our healthy disregard for what makes dance music 'cool' - not us thats for sure, I mean, we don't even have a Hotel, just a Tent. It has got a stove mind. Anyway, read on to find what makes our kid tick.

Rich Jones has been obsessed with electronic music since hearing Jean Michel Jarre piped through a large sound-system at the London Planetarium, aged just 5.
Since then, his love of atmospheric electronic music has grown and grown, until he inevitably discovered the hedonistic joys of House and Techno at the age of 17, in 1997. Djing since 1998, and having held a number of residencies for local nights, Rich began dabbling in producing around late 2001, and got into it seriously in late 2002, after lucky acquisition of some kit.

A self taught producer, Rich has carved his own unique niche in the international House and Techno scene, and continues to deliver the music he is increasingly recognised for. Funky, Tribal, dense, layered, hypnotic, deep, percussive, melodic, energetic - these are all words fit to describe his signature sound, whether it be in a house context, or a pulse racing peak-time techno context, and everywhere in-between. Never sticking to a formula, Rich always tries to blur the lines between House and Techno, incorporating his love of tribal rhythms, disco, ambient, funk, early 90s Hip-Hop and film scores, and jams late into the night in his studio developing his sound. In fact, his devotion to the night has led him to be known as the Techno Vampire by close friends, and he’s adamant his night vigils are where his best stuff is created. Shame he looks like a panda bear as a result. Whatever the case, his sound is constantly developing, and getting many heads nodding and hips moving as a result, worldwide.

Techno for House heads, and House for Techno heads, as he likes to put it. Blending his love of spaced out, stoney deep house, atmospheric music of all varieties, and rolling, hypnotic percussive Techno, Rich continues to create unique, genre-defying dance-floor tools and stand alone pieces for aural consumption. He’s also terrified of peanuts, and for good reason.

The New Friends Series from Greta Cottage Workshop is at it again, this time bringin’ in the talent from a little closer to home. We ran into each other on Soundcloud talking about a certain Mr Collins, and realising we shared a love of Fried Pie (hopefully a future project will involve a Pie Frying element) He is a South Coast Boy, so it was rude not to really.
Rich shares our healthy disregard for what makes dance music 'cool' - not us that’s for sure, I mean, we don't even have a Hotel, just a Tent. It has got a stove in mind.

Another Crewmember that can see the sea from his Studio, we proudly shove Rich Jones under your nose.

We at the Cottage feel that the Components For The Journey E.P is a fitting follow up to Mudkids offering from us last time out : Dance Floor Material for Stoners perhaps? Grooves that have got as much significance for your Brain as they have your dancing shoes.

Metro Suns : Paces itself as a delightful ode to warm days, with an invigorating push to blue skies and an additional nudge of funk back into dreamy nights.

Myriad : a fantastical journey into tech arrangement and free spirit vibes. Ballistic rushes on the intergalactic highway make this space bound number a lesson in profound sounds. Takes its sweet time to build, and what a ride.

Transistor Fudge : A brazen Disco call that breaks down the EP fittingly into it's own beautiful components. A floozy loop of deep down Boogie incorporating stylistic future Woogie - It is, how we say in Devon 'ferkin gert bey'

Get along : A tracky finish to the EP, bringing a prolonging sense of riding the waves of ambiguity. Let's get along shall we children? Directions for Use > Mix long & well.
(Jamie “winkle” Slater on the track descriptions. He was ravin’ in a field all weekend. And it shows.)
